On Monday April 08, 2024 at 1:45 PM the beautiful city of Idabel will be the place to be! Idabel is in the path of totality so for 4 minutes and 18.4 seconds it will look like night in the middle of the day. How cool is that?!

What is a solar eclipse?

A solar eclipse is a lineup of the Sun, the Moon, and Earth. The Moon which is directly between the Sun and Earth, casts a shadow on our planet.
The eclipsis is not seen from every place on Earth, but only from locations where the shadow falls. From these locations, it appears as if the Sun has gone dark.
As totality nears, you may notice a resemblance to the onset of night. The horizon will brighten, shadows will look different, breezes will disappear, birds will stop chirping, and the temperature may drop 10-15 degrees.
